I guess the most important thing when a choice of a domain registrar is concerned is the fact whether he's ICANN-accredited or not.
Sable ICANN, CIRA and .eu-accredited registrar is Sibername.com, they also resell SSL certificates at prices lower than Thawte and Verisign.
